Episode 45 – The Desire of GOD’S Heart – Psalm 21:8-13

What does God want? And what should we want if our hearts are truly aligned with Him?

In the final episode of our 4-part study through Psalm 21, we dive into verses 8–13 and discover a challenging truth: the desires of the heart that God fulfills are ultimately connected to His own purposes, righteousness, judgment, and the revelation of Jesus Christ in glory.

Psalm 21 points us toward the triumphant King whose victory comes through the power and judgment of God. The “right hand” of the LORD is revealed throughout Scripture as the instrument of His power, righteousness, salvation, and judgment—and the New Testament identifies Jesus Christ as the One seated at the Father’s right hand, awaiting the appointed time of His return.

So, what is the desire of a heart that truly trusts God?

It isn’t simply comfort, success, wealth, or getting everything we want.

It is the desire to see God’s will fulfilled.

It is the desire to see Jesus Christ glorified.

It is the desire to see righteousness prevail.

It is the desire for Christ to return and finally purge the world of sin, death, corruption, and evil.

Psalm 21 ends with a powerful declaration:

“Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength! We will sing and praise Your power.”

And Paul gives us a similar picture in 2 Timothy 4:8—the crown of righteousness is promised to those who have “loved His appearing.”

The more we know God through His Word, the more our desires should begin to change. Instead of asking God to conform His purposes to ours, we learn to surrender our hearts to His purposes.

Jesus is the King.

Jesus is the Victor.

Jesus is the One who will return.

And the ultimate desire of God’s people should be to see His appearing.
