Episode 62: When God Answers Prayer - Psalm 28:1-9

Sep 1, 2026  •  Brandon Alvillar

Does God really answer every prayer with a “yes,” “no,” or “wait”? What does it look like when the LORD actually responds to our prayers in the way we hoped? And how should we respond when He does?

In this episode of Refuge & Strength, Pastor b.Side takes a verse-by-verse look at Psalm 28, exploring David’s desperate prayer, his dependence on God, and his overwhelming response when he recognized that the LORD had heard and answered him.

David begins by crying out to YAHWEH, calling Him his Rock—the solid, immovable foundation of salvation, strength, and protection. David understands that his hope depends entirely on God, so he approaches Him with humility and urgency, asking the LORD to hear his supplications and preserve him from judgment.

The study then examines David’s request for God to deal with wickedness and hypocrisy according to His righteousness. Rather than taking justice into his own hands, David entrusts judgment to God and waits for the LORD to act according to His purposes and promises.
