Episode 55: Where Is The Door To Heaven? - Psalm 24:7-10

Sep 1, 2026  •  Brandon Alvillar

Who can enter God's presence? Where is the door to heaven? And what does Psalm 24 reveal about the identity of the King of Glory?

In this episode of Refuge & Strength, Pastor b.Side concludes the study of Psalm 24 by exploring verses 7–10 and unpacking David’s powerful description of the “everlasting doors” and the “King of Glory.”

Psalm 24 begins by declaring that the earth belongs to the LORD because He is the Creator and Controller of everything. It then asks who can ascend to God’s holy presence. The answer points to humanity’s fundamental problem: God is holy, while we are corrupted by sin. By our own righteousness and ability, we have no way to enter God's presence.

So where is the door?

This episode explores how the imagery of Psalm 24 points beyond the physical gates of the ancient Tabernacle and Temple toward the everlasting gates of God's kingdom. David describes the gates being opened for the King of Glory, raising a critical question: Who is this King of Glory?

The answer leads directly to Jesus Christ.

Jesus declared in John 10 that He is “the door” of the sheep. As the Good Shepherd, He leads His people into the green pastures of God's eternal kingdom. He doesn't merely show us the way to heaven—He is the way into the presence of God.

In this study, Pastor b.Side examines the connection between Psalm 24 and the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. The episode explores how Christ's victory over sin, death, and hell demonstrates His identity as the King of Glory and reveals why the gates of heaven open for Him.

The episode also explores the biblical title Jehovah Sabaoth — “the LORD of hosts.” This name reveals God's supreme authority over the armies of heaven and earth and emphasizes His absolute sovereignty over every power, authority, nation, and spiritual force.

Ultimately, the question “Where is the door to heaven?” has a deeply personal answer.

The door is Jesus Christ.

The King of Glory is the LORD. The LORD is strong and mighty. The LORD is mighty in battle. And the One who conquered sin and death is the One who opens the way for His people to enter the presence of God.

Jesus is the Door. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. Jesus is the King of Glory.
