Why should we praise God when life is difficult, when His promises haven’t been fully fulfilled yet, and when our circumstances seem to contradict what we believe?
Because God is faithful—and His promises are eternal.
In the final episode of our six-part study through Psalm 22, we dive into verses 25-31 and discover why David could praise the LORD with confidence even while suffering. David’s circumstances didn’t suddenly become easy. Instead, his understanding of who God is became greater than the weight of his problems.
David understood that God’s promises extend far beyond our temporary circumstances. The LORD promises restoration for His people, blessing for the nations, resurrection for those who have gone down to the dust, and ultimately the establishment of His kingdom through the Messiah.
And Psalm 22 points us directly to Jesus Christ.
What looked like defeat at the cross was not the end of the story. Jesus died—but He was raised from the dead, proving that God has the power to fulfill every promise He has made. The crucifixion, resurrection, and coming kingdom all demonstrate the incredible faithfulness, mercy, grace, righteousness, wisdom, and power of God.
David praised because he understood something we desperately need to remember:
