Episode 46 – Why Is God Ignoring Me? – Psalm 22:1-2

Have you ever cried out to God and felt like He wasn’t listening?

Maybe you prayed. You waited. You searched the Scriptures. You trusted Him. But nothing seemed to change. In those moments, it can genuinely feel like God has gone silent—or even abandoned you.

In Part 1 of our study through Psalm 22, we begin with David’s powerful cry:

“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Those words should immediately sound familiar because Jesus Himself spoke them from the cross.

Psalm 22 is one of the most remarkable prophetic passages in the Bible, describing the suffering, rejection, crucifixion, and ultimate victory of the Messiah hundreds of years before Jesus fulfilled these things. But this Psalm also gives us something incredibly important for those seasons when God seems distant.

The Bible teaches that God does not abandon His people. His faithfulness does not change simply because our circumstances change—or because we can’t feel His presence.

David cried out in distress, yet God was still with him.

Jesus endured unimaginable suffering and separation as He bore the penalty of sin, yet His suffering ultimately produced the greatest gift humanity has ever received: forgiveness, reconciliation with God, spiritual life, and eternal hope.

That gives us an important perspective when we experience our own “dry seasons.”

Sometimes God’s work is happening behind the scenes, even when we can't see it.

Sometimes what feels like silence is not abandonment.

Sometimes what looks hopeless is actually part of a work that will ultimately reveal the glory, goodness, and faithfulness of God.
