Episode 6: Praying With Wisdom - Psalm 6:1-10
In this episode of Refuge & Strength, previously known as Getting To Know God, Pastor b.Side walks through Psalm 6 in a powerful study titled, “Praying With Wisdom.” What does it really mean to fear the LORD? Is the fear of God simply respect, or is there something deeper that scripture teaches? Through David’s prayer in Psalm 6, this study explores how the fear of the LORD produces true wisdom, humility, repentance, and dependence on God’s mercy.
David’s words reveal the heart of a man who understood both the holiness of God and the seriousness of sin. Though known as a man after God’s own heart, David openly confessed his weakness, grief, fear, and need for mercy. In this study, we examine how God uses conviction, sorrow, and even fear to draw His people closer to Himself—not to destroy them, but to restore them.
This episode breaks down the connection among prayer, repentance, and wisdom, showing that genuine prayer is not rooted in self-righteousness or religious performance but in humble dependence on God's mercy. Psalm 6 teaches that godly wisdom comes when we recognize our inability, fear the consequences of sin, and seek restoration through the LORD's character and faithfulness.
If you’ve ever struggled with guilt, conviction, spiritual discouragement, or questions about your relationship with God, this study offers biblical encouragement and clarity about God’s mercy, discipline, and faithfulness toward His people.
