Episode 6: Can We Learn To Change - Ecclesiastes 1:12-14
Can we ever learn enough to finally figure life out?
In this episode, we continue our study of Ecclesiastes 1:12–14 and explore Solomon’s sobering conclusion about wisdom, learning, and the human condition. Despite all the knowledge available to us—from Scripture, theology, history, and personal experience—life’s fundamental struggles remain. We continue learning, adapting, and growing, yet lasting satisfaction always seems just out of reach.
Why does life still feel difficult even as we gain wisdom? Why do our efforts to understand God, ourselves, and our purpose never seem to eliminate the challenges we face? Solomon wrestled with these same questions and concluded that life lived solely “under the sun” is like trying to catch the wind—an endless pursuit that never provides complete fulfillment.
In this discussion, we examine the reality that God has not promised to remove every hardship, answer every question, or make every aspect of life easy. Instead, He calls us to walk faithfully through a world marked by change, adversity, and the ongoing struggle against sin. Understanding this truth can free us from unrealistic expectations, bitterness, and disappointment.
Most importantly, we consider the hope found beyond Solomon’s observations. While life under the sun can never fully satisfy, Jesus points us to something greater. As John 17:3 declares, true life is found in knowing the one true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent. Rather than spending our lives grasping at the wind, we can pursue the eternal life that is found in Christ.
Join us as we discover how accepting the realities of life can actually bring greater peace, clearer perspective, and deeper joy in our walk with the LORD.
