Small Groups

Even as our Lord served, so we are called to serve - in the body of Christ and in our community, demonstrating transformed lives.

Small groups consist of believers at Wellington who meet as families outside of the weekly worship service to encourage one another in their walk with Christ.  Often gathering in members' homes, these groups have regular times to share a meal, pray together, study the Word and edify one another.  An integral part of equipping the saints for ministry, small groups focus on four key areas:

Progressive Sanctification

Growing in the knowledge of Jesus Christ grounds and equips us for service.  Studying God's Word together gives opportunity for discussion and application with the aim of a genuine, living faith.

Mutual Care

Based on a shared union with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, small groups promote relationships and opportunities for care through prayer, encouragement, admonishment, love, service and bearing one another's burdens.  As we come alongside one another, we grow in grace together.

Fellowship

As well as fellowship time in a home environment, small groups also serve together in community outreach, hosting church events, and wherever the Spirit may lead to be the body of Christ beyond Sunday mornings.

Spiritual Gifts

Small groups are instrumental in identifying and developing gifts granted by the Holy Spirit to believers. Whether it is the gift of teaching, administration, serving or encouragement, all gifts are to be used for the edification of the Church, Christ's body (Ephesians 4:11-16).
