Episode 40 – The Name of God Part 2 – Psalm 20:4-6
🔥 WHAT DOES GOD’S NAME REVEAL ABOUT HIS POWER TO SAVE?
We often say, “God will answer my prayer.”
But how does God actually answer?
And what happens when what we want isn’t what God has promised to do?
In Psalm 20:4–6, David gives us a powerful lesson about prayer, God’s purposes, His promises, and the meaning behind the “name of God.”
God isn’t a cosmic genie waiting to fulfill our personal wish list.
He answers according to WHO HE IS.
And that changes the way we pray.
David’s focus wasn’t simply on getting what he wanted. His confidence was rooted in God’s eternal promises, especially His promises concerning Israel, the Messiah, and the coming reign of Jesus Christ.
Then David declares:
“We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners!” — Psalm 20:5
That phrase points us back to Jehovah Nissi — “The LORD Our Banner.”
The God who gives victory.
The God who keeps His promises.
The God whose power cannot be defeated.
And ultimately, that victory points us to Jesus Christ—the Anointed One, the Messiah, and the One who sits at the right hand of the Father.
✝️ His resurrection is our evidence.
🔥 His authority is our confidence.
📖 His promises are our hope.
👑 His return is certain.
So maybe the question isn’t:
“Will God give me what I want?”
Maybe the better question is:
“Am I asking God for what He has promised?”
