Episode 7: Serving God Through Opposition - Psalm 7:1-5

May 1, 2026    Brandon Alvillar

In this episode of Refuge & Strength, previously known as Getting To Know God, Pastor b.Side begins a powerful three-part study through Psalm 7 titled, “Serving Through Opposition.” Life as a servant of God is not without conflict, resistance, or persecution. In Psalm 7:1-5, David gives a raw and honest testimony about trusting the LORD while facing unfair opposition from people who sought to destroy him without cause.

This study explores how David responded to persecution—not with bitterness, revenge, or panic, but with confidence in God’s righteousness, justice, and faithfulness. Even while being threatened and falsely opposed, David sang to the LORD, revealing a heart grounded in trust, humility, and a deep understanding of God’s eternal purposes.

Through this passage, we examine what it means to truly know God as Savior and Deliverer, and how an intimate relationship with Him equips believers to persevere through difficult people and painful circumstances. David’s example reminds us that opposition is often connected to God’s purpose for our lives, and that trusting God requires more than emotional reactions—it requires faith in His character, promises, and sovereign plan.

This episode also highlights the difference between seeking revenge and seeking God’s righteous judgment. David’s confidence before the LORD came from a clear conscience and a desire for God’s justice—not personal vindication or prideful retaliation. Psalm 7 teaches believers how to remain faithful, blameless, and spiritually focused even when facing hostility from others.
